Where is the access code for my new Journey or Bible?

If you purchased your Journey or Bible from the Friendship Press web store, an email with your access code and instructions for getting started was sent within minutes of your purchase to the email address you provided. If you are not seeing that email, please check your spam and junk filters. Note that if you don’t find the email, if you create your Word@Hand account at wordathand.org with the same email address you used for your purchase, your access code will be automatically linked to your account and you will have everything you need.

If you have been given a Journey or Bible by a friend or your church, they should provide you the access code.

What are the step-by-step instructions for getting started with Word@Hand?

Please follow these two steps to begin using Word@Hand:

  1. Create an Account or Sign In at wordathand.org and add your product to your Library:
  • If your new product appears in the list of Unregistered Products at the bottom of My Library, click the Add button to add it to your Library.
  • If your new product is not in your list, click Register New Product and enter the product access code.
  1. Install the Word@Hand app to your mobile device:
  • Go to Google Play (Android) or the Apple Store (iOS) and search for either Friendship Press or Word@Hand. Install the app to your device. Sign in with your Word@Hand account credentials (that you created at org).

Where do I create and manage my Word@Hand account?

To use the Word@Hand app on your Android or iOS mobile device, create your account at wordathand.org. There, you can also manage your account info and your Word@Hand Library.

How do I add my new Journey or Bible to my Word@Hand Library?

Sign in at wordathand.org. If your new product appears in the list of Unregistered Products at the bottom of My Library, click the Add button to add it to your Library. If your new product is not in your list, click Register New Product and enter the product access code.

Where do I get the Word@Hand app?

The Word@Hand app is available for both Android and iOS devices. For Android, go to Google Play. For iOS, go to the Apple App Store. Search for Friendship Press or Word@Hand.

How do I sign in to the Word@Hand app?

To use the Word@Hand app, you must have created an account at wordathand.org. Sign in to the app with either the user name or email address associated with the account and the password you created.

Where do I create and manage my Word@Hand account?

How do I change my password?

If you forgot your password and can’t sign in to your Word@Hand account, go to wordathand.org and click the “Reset password” link at the bottom of the page. Enter the user name or email address associated with your account. Click “Send password reset email.” Check your email for further instructions including a password reset link.

If you know your current password, sign in at wordathand.org. At upper right, go to My Account. Click Edit My Account. In the three bottom fields, enter your new password, confirm your new password, and then enter your current password. Click “Update.”

How do I edit information on my Word@Hand account?

Sign in at wordathand.org. At upper right, go to My Account. Click Edit My Account. Change any information as necessary. Click “Update.”

How do I add my new Journey or Bible to my Word@Hand Library?

Sign in at wordathand.org. If your new product appears in the list of Unregistered Products at the bottom of My Library, click the Add button to add it to your Library. If your new product is not in your list, click Register New Product and enter the product access code.

Why don’t I see my new Journey or Bible in the Word@Hand app?

If you have added your Journey or Bible to your Library at wordathand.org (see “How do I add my new Journey or Bible to my Word@Hand Library?”), but do not see it in the Word@Hand app, your Library needs a simple refresh. Go to Library (bottom left icon in the app). Click the Refresh (circular arrow) icon at upper right. Word@Hand will check your Library and add any new Journeys or Bibles to the app.

What are Word@Hand Journeys, Paths, and Steps?

Each Word@Hand Journey contains up to six Paths, which are listed below the Journey title in your Library. Each Path begins with three items: an introduction to the study verses, then a link between the verses and our contemporary world, and finally a video with which to delve deeper. Swipe left/right to move between these. Each Path also offers seven Daily Steps that guide you to Read, Think, Pray, and Act.

How do I start a Journey in Word@Hand?

Go to your Word@Hand Library (tap “Library” at lower left). At the top, tap the Journeys tab to see the list of your Journeys. Under the title of each of your Journeys is a list of its Paths. Tap a Path to start on your way.

How do I navigate a Path?

In your Journeys Library, tap a Path to start on your way. While on a Path, its title is displayed at the top of your screen. Each Path begins with three items: an introduction to the study verses, then a link between the verses and our contemporary world, and finally a video with which to delve deeper. Swipe left/right to move between these. On each Path you are offered seven Daily Steps. Swipe left from the video to go immediately to the first Daily Step. Tap the Daily Steps button at the bottom of the screen to go to a list of all the Steps of a Path.

How do I walk the Daily Steps of a Path?

After selecting a Path from your Journeys Library, tap Daily Steps at the bottom to display a list of the seven Daily Steps of that Path. Tap the title of a Daily Step to take it. Each Daily Step guides you to Read, Think, Pray and Act. You can tap the verses at the top of the text to go to them in your Bible. Tap the tabs at the top or swipe left/right to move between Think, Pray, and Act of a Daily Step.

What are the functions of the controls at the bottom of the Journey display?

While on a Journey, across the bottom of the screen are these buttons:

Library: Tap to go to your Library.

Daily Step: Takes you to the list of Daily Steps (Read, Think, Pray, Act) for the Path you are on.

Video: Takes you to the video for the Path you are on.

Bible: This takes you to the Table of Contents of your current Bible (your Default Bible unless you have chosen another one during this session).

How do I control the display of images?

For most illustrations, tap to enlarge the picture to full screen and read its caption—usually a relevant Bible verse. You can drag the illustration to view its details. Tap the full-blown illustration to dismiss it.

How do I control the videos?

When a video is on-screen, tap on the Play button. On Android devices, the screen will rotate to landscape and start playing. When you are finished watching the video, rotate your phone back to portrait mode. On iOS devices, rotate your device to enter full screen. When the video is finished playing, tap the X in the upper left to exit full screen. On any device, tap the Rewind or Fast Forward buttons to skip backward or forward.

Can I set a default Bible?

In the Word@hand app, tap the “gear” at upper right to open Settings & Support. Tap the “Default Bible” button to view the Bibles you have purchased. If you have more than one Bible:

  • Android: Tap on the button next to the Bible to choose which will be your default Bible. The button will now be green.
  • iOS: Scroll in the list until the Bible you would like to be your default is highlighted. Tap Done to dismiss the list.

How do I read a Bible in Word@Hand?

Go to your Word@Hand Library (tap “Library” at lower left). At the top, tap the Bibles tab to see the list of your Bibles. Tap the Bible you want to read. You will see the Table of Contents. In the Table of Contents are three tabs: Book, Chapter, Verse. Navigate to the verse where you want to begin reading:

  1. Select a Book: To find the book you want, either scroll to find it or type the Book title in the Search field. Tap a Book title to be taken to its Chapter list.
  2. Tap a Chapter number to be taken to its Verse list.
  3. Tap a Verse number to go to that Verse in your current Bible.

How do I navigate within a Bible?

The title of the Bible you are reading is displayed at the top. If you are reading in the Bible, tap the Table of Contents button to navigate to a different place in the Bible. Scroll up and down to read the text. Swipe left or right to move to the next or previous book of the Bible.

How do I view the Bible references and footnotes?

If the Bible you are viewing contains references or footnotes, they are demarcated by ° and * respectively.

° indicates a Reference. Tap the ° to view the relevant Reference. Within the Reference, tap a verse citation to go to that verse. Tap another Reference and you will see a back arrow, as well as its References. Tap the back arrow to be taken back to your starting place. Tap anywhere on the screen to dismiss a displayed Reference.

* indicates a Footnote. Tap the * to view the footnote. Tap anywhere on the screen to dismiss it.

Can I search the Bible?

To search for the verses that contain a word or a string of words, tap the Search icon at lower left. On the Search page, tap in the Search field and type the word or string of words for which you want to search. The verses that contain the string you have typed are listed. Tap a found verse to go to it. Note that the Search results are limited to 50. If your search yields more than 50 results, refine your search criteria.

How do I bookmark (or remove a bookmark from) a Bible verse?

Long-press a verse to open the Bookmark & Highlights palette. Tap the bookmark icon to bookmark the verse you have selected. To remove the bookmark, long-press the verse and then tap the filled bookmark icon.

How do I highlight (or remove a highlight from) Bible verses?

Long-press a verse to open the Bookmark & Highlights palette. Tap a color to highlight the verse you have selected. To remove a highlight, long-press the verse and then tap the selected highlight color.

What is “Bible: Look, Learn, Live?”

The Bookmarks, Highlights, and Search functions together are titled, “Bible: Look, Learn, Live.” Tap the Back button at the top left to go back to the Bible.

Can I contact Word@Hand Support from within the app?

In the Word@hand app, tap the “gear” at upper right to open Settings & Support. Tap Contact Support to send an email.

Why is the Assistance Palette blocking the main Revealing window?

Click the top title bar of the Revealing… main window to bring it in front of the Assistance Palette. You can leave the Assistance Palette open while you are using any module.

How do I create and send a log to Word@Hand Support?

If the Word@Hand Support Team has asked you send a log to help solve a problem, in the Word@hand app, tap the “gear” at upper right to open Settings & Support. Tap Send Log. An email is created with the log attached. Please enter a description of what you were doing when you ran into trouble and anything that occurred after. Please do not alter the email in any other way. Tap the Send button on the email.
